This Consulate General was inaugurated on 2nd May 2015. It is the first Myanmar Consulate General and the third Myanmar Mission established in the United States. Since establishment, the ultimate goal has been to effectively protect and promote the interests of Myanmar-American communities living along the U.S. West Coast. It also seeks to enhance and strengthen diplomatic relations with local authorities and the Consular Corps while also creating better economic, trade, investment and tourism opportunities between Myanmar and various entities along the U.S. West Coast.
